16 is the most i ever treed in a winter, and that was hunting for an outfitter every day. I cant imagine 50 or 60, not possible in ID.

My best year was the first year I hunted lion in 1991. We treed 38 when I was there, but I didn't own the dogs. It was a good friend of mine. We averaged about 15 a year after that until he died in 2005. I got my own dogs in 2007 and treed 9 the first year. Been about that every year since. It is a lot harder hunting now than it was in 1991. We didn't go out very often with out finding a runnable track, now I can go for days with out a track to run.

All states are different, montana has alot more cats then Idaho. If you got the weather and could hunt washington i bet you could catch 50 in a winter, mabey more. That country is overrun with cats.

your right and like i said in california if legal right now you could catch more than one cat a day cause they are over run with cats too so 50 in a year would be easy

This post could be deceptive because you said treed in a year. Now then cats bayed on the ground can't count and those caught in snares and traps can't count. LOL! Just thought I would clear that up. Many folks hardly ever see a lion in a tree when they get to them in the low brush and bluff country of the southwest. Oh and a lot of year round hunters who rack up big numbers doing depredation work also snare and trap. Not taking anything away from them because they are among the best and they have a real job to do but treed is a different thing.

I have caught over 30 in a season before. I'm sure a long ways from making it there this year, but I think it all comes down to how much you can get out. I can get out a couple times a week all year. If I didn't switch gears to bears in the spring, elk and deer in the fall I don't think 50 would be so far out of the question. chances are , if you have been doing this very long and you have a couple dogs that know the drill you will catch damn near everything you put out on. IMO. so as many times as you can get turned out is how many your gona catch. barring a few long end tracks and a few deer races.lol
wait my dogs never do that

stonethrow, what part of the state you been hunting? You must have a good snow hole, as it seems for the most part the state has been hurting for snow the whole month of Dec. Great job. Andy

We do alot of free casting hounds alot of fun and alot of trashing at times. We have a few vetren hounds that get it done. I enjoy the pup training the most a few times out and they start to get there heads on.Its hard to run youg one when ther is no snow to watch but if you stay with it you can get it done. This time of the year is horr. PEROID THANKS
