hey i been trying to live trap coon, hasn't worked out so far. startin to try to do feeders, i've heard thats a great way to get a started hound goin. i've looked how to make em on the internet with buckets and what not but not sure how to start off at the feeder? like i've seen most people strap the buckets with feed to the trees and i've got everythin i need but with a young learning dog won't my dog maybe just tree where the buckets er at if there alot of scent where they're feedin? er do i try to find a track in the mud and start em there? er turn him down and hopefully he can work through the scent adn figure out where it went after it ate? just need some help approaching it right so my dog doesn't just tree where the bait is..

Best to always know what your starting, and its heading. Mud tracks would be a great starting point. If you have a trail cam and a laptop id use that as well if you had no mud to go off of. As far as the dog not not being able to sort things out. Most likely hell run the hell out of whatever track is freshest. Just hope not a deer or coyote! He might need you to walk with him around the feeder for him to find the "out" track at first. I've never used a feeder or tree many coon. Just mostly snow with bobcats, disaster with bareground and no tracks.
