Someones talking about me...........

I have read a post on here that seems to be directed at me and is full of false claims. I really have no way to defend myself against these lies so maybe it will be good to get the whole story out. Let me give a low down on what happened.........I hunted on "his" ground, and about a year ago I did tell him I wouldn't, so in return he ended our friendship ( I can partially understand). Recently I had let him know that I had started hunting "his" ground only because it is literally behind my house and I cant afford to drive all over the country to hunt (so this was for economical reasons only). I made sure not to shoot any cats, my dogs did however kill 2 cats on the ground, (they must have missed the memo on not killing any cats out of pure courtesy to my ex-friend). And now he seems to be talking shit about me on this bobcat forum. I also found out that he knows a different math than me, I thought that if a dog is 3 years old in 2007 that would make him 8 this year (do the calculations, I counted this out a million times and it does equal out to 8 ) But, the way he adds it up it apparently equals 12, crazy huh? So, he went on this forum here and told every one that the dog I had for sale was older than he is. Well, I think his mathematic abilities rank up there with his cutting abilities..........bad.
I am not going to say anything bad about his dogs, as he once told me that he would never down grade someone else's dogs. I guess his rule applies to everyone but me since he has been talking shit about my dog. Go figure huh?

Your honesty is admirable and you've done nothing illegal, but poaching a fellow hunters spot when an agreement was made is not handled lightly by most hunters esp. hound people whatever your rationale might be (which is not sufficient in my opinion). Your "partial understanding" is obviously not his understanding. We all have the right to hunt pubic ground, but there needs to be due respect and responsibility for ones actions without excuses. You f'd up an he cares.
In your defense, I would say he should take responsibility for showing a good hunting spot to anyone he can't trust (which is everybody), but that's the price one pays for trying to help others in this sport.
We all make decisions. Own yours!
If you found someone in your prime hunting spot that you showed them and they told you they would not go there you might be a little peeved.

I have never had this problem with hound guys. I have had this problem with deer and elk hunting spots. If I happen to show someone a hunting spot, I fully expect that person to hunt it again. What gets me is when they start showing all their other friends.
The reason I haven't had this problem with hound folks is because I learned a long time ago that running hounds is like the crack cocaine of the hunting world. Everyone that owns dogs for more than a couple years become so addicted to the pursuit that they will go wherever they are most likely to get their fix. My expectations are pretty low!
My advice would be for both sides to stop airing their dirty laundry and try to mend some fences. Life's to short.

I don't want to start a pissing match here but this is a prime example of why I hunt alone 90% of the time. There are only a couple guys I will hunt with and we go to a spot we both know that each other hunts. I do not know the circumstances nor do I need to know but I can say from past experiences that taking someone to one of your best hunting spots no matter the agreement has always back fired on me and this topic is the outcome. If you hunt alone you don't have to put up with this kind of nonsense. It's kind of like a hound dogger's rule, you do not hunt someone else's spot if he or she showed it to you without them. I know nobody own's the woods but it is a respect thing. It seem's to be getting a lot different these day's.

There are no secret codes amongst houndsmen, or anybody else for that matter. There is only the credibility for a mans word. If you tell so, and so, you are, or are not going to do something. Then you by God do as you said. It does not matter if it was public ground, or not. If you dont hold true to your word. In my opinion you can not be trusted, whether it is something as small as a hunting area, or something truly important. This guy has a right to be pissed at you, because you lied. Now. With that being said, if he bad mouths your dogs after he said he would not. I would say he is no better.
Beardogger; You have stated in other posts that you are tired of people driving 5 hrs to hunt the owyhees. I too get frustrated at the amount of people that appear there every year, and I agree that there are entirely too many killed each year. however after you posted this. You posted you were heading to eastern Idaho to hunt. Someone elses back yard, and 5 hours away. No offense intended. Just making a point.

I guess I miss stated myself I dont mind it when people want to explore new areas what I hate is when they drive 5 hrs to kill a lion only in prime conditions. I want to hunt and explore all of Idaho but you wont see me killin anything and I damn sure wont be rude to the locals cause i am a guest and I hunt good or bad conditions (i perfer to dryground for cats). I frequently talk to deputys with the local sherriffs department and they have to babysit all the hound guys cause they are mostly a bunch of jackasses and steal and vandalize, and If you are in the area with a dog box you get put on a list

Understood, and I agree. I am not sure if we have met out there or not, but I do appreciate your ethics. The worst problem we have in that area arent the out of towners that show up exploring. It is some of the guys that are out there every weekend, and have someone new with them each time (shooters I presume). I know that is a big accusation, but honestly think that is the case. I always have people asking me to take them lion hunting. I tell them to find a track and walk it out. If you dont want to do that then get some dogs, buy thousands of dollars worth of dog food, and equipement, and spend several years learning your dogs, and the lions behavior. They all shake their head and walk off.
I hunt out of a red dodge deisel with a flatbed, mostly hunt behind Murphy. If you see me out there stop and say high. My name is Tim Hunt.

I do want to say that I am sorry for talking shit about his cutting abilities, that was wrong and he is actually a good cutter. That was wrong of me, but to my defense I am just pissed from hearing everyone in my neck of the woods say that he has been talking about my dog behind my back. He should have said to my face. And I will leave it at that, so I am done with this post. And I do like hearing everyones point of view, whether you agreed with me or not. And I do also agree that I should not have hunted his ground and that is fair terms to end a friendship, I guess.....thats his choice.

as far as hound hunting goes chances are your always running in someones imaginary spot ,you would have to leave the hounds in the box to please everybody. the terms you agreed to is something you shouldnt have so live and learn on that lol.you gave your word. a good hound chasing the game and some nice foot wear will teach you lots .add a garmin and you will get a crash course . i have showed people things only to have them take credit for it ,and the funniest part is when someone does it to them and they get mad .as far as im concerned i dont want to know anyones spots they can shove that info you know where . im after the game and to work my hounds ,and the only time a person can truelly say a game animal is theres where i hunt is when the tag is on them .jmo

i understand , have some big buck places i go that i wont even take my dad into because sooner than later everyone will be hunting it, but when i run into other hunters, i cant get mad because we all have the right to be there all i can do is hope they didnt find the game. On the flip side, the more people that dont like you, the less people bother you!
