Ok I have a female who has a knack for escape. I have boarded up almost every hole in my kennel, and I thought I had solved this escapees plans. Today I go to feed the mutts and she's out again. The only way out left is up a 10ft plywood wall with a foundation on the sides she could use as a stepping stone. Once I have power back out at the barn ill put a wire up to fix the problem. Anyways she also can work her way out my dogbox holes whenever she feels like as well. My question to you guys is do you think this is a trait our bobcat dogs need? I think it shows intelligence and ability to work though tough spots.

A couple of the best dogs I have owned wouldn't try to escape from the kennel or dog yard. In fact they would stand at the spot the others got through and bark like crazy until I went out. Complete snitches! I haven't been to worried about how the dogs are around the house when evaluating how well they do in the woods. Some of the high strung dogs ran a cat hard but to be honest I prefer the ones that seemed to want to impress me. The way I see it the smartest dogs are the ones that could easily get out but prefer not to because they know it ruins my day.

The best escape artist I have ever owned made a good solid cat dog, I hunted him his whole life. He didn't listen, he was stubborn, but I sure am glad he was around. He is 12 years old, grey in the face, completely deaf and mostly blind. But I think he listens just as good now as he ever did.

I don't think it makes it a smarter dog but if you like it, keep it.
