Never tried it. Went as far as buying catnip seeds though. I read about it in a trapping book back forty years ago or so. This man said they will be drawn in by it. I cant remember exactly who it was. Possibly E.J. Daily

I have seen some stuff planted in bobcat country. Turns out it was not catnip though. I don't know who was thinking bobcats would come in to that stuff. If bobcats were using it, that would explain the few cats I could actually catch.

Alot of trappers bait has catnip infused in it. Most baits use artificial catnip but a select few use real catnip however catnip oil is very expensive! Another good lure is when you catch a skunk is to drain the skunk essence from the vent and mix it in a jelly type material (vaseline).

Cats for the most part wont be drawn in from to far. When I trap them, I have to make sure to get the sets where the cats are gonna be. Usually within 3 feet of where they are gonna travel. The best thing I have found is beaver carcases. If you have beaver around of course. I have no hound experience but as far as finding bobcats I would look for toilet areas, scratching posts and scent posts. Multiple cats usually use the same spots as they travel through an area.
