Hi, in the near future I have the opportunity to move to texas or colorado. Which state do you think would be more of a "hunters" paradise. I am from socal so I think either state will be 100 times better then where I am now.

and Where in Texas?
In Texas you will expect to pay $$$ to hunt deer on account of the leasing set up.
in Colorado you can access the BLM lands and forest service lands to hunt deer, Elk and antelope

Texas- hunting Coon and bobcat is not too much of a problem But in the panhandle are expect a long drive to get to hunting areas
Colorado. when I worked in the eastern 1/2 of Colorado I had a lot of landowners gave me permission-- the key is not to just show up and ask--- make a few trips in advance to ask

eastern plains-- there is a decent population of coon and bobcats near the rivers.
landowner permission is the key.

Lion hunting in Texas is mostly around the Davis Mtn. region..
in Colorado lots of access to huntable populations

thanks for the tips, I would really like to get into hog hunting with my dogs. But I like hunting in general. I like to bowhunt, deer and elk would be awesome. so would hunting lions and bobcats with dogs as well, going to have to get different types of dogs. I know texas is an obvious choice for hogs, i think there are none in colorado? The way things are now, it looks more like its going to be colorado (not necessarily by choice). Pueblo west colorado is the area which is basically smack in the middle of the state.

CO. has hogs in the SE corner but they are doing everything they can to get rid of them. Texas is almost 100% private and most ranches are already leased and the rest don't allow hunting. Unless you pay, Texas is very difficult to find a place to hunt.
CO. has tons of public land and we can hunt Bobcats and Lions with hounds. Also, moose, whitetail and mule deer, elk, sheep, bear, goats, and all the furbearers. Not to mention all the winter sports, skiiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing. Pueblo wouldn't be my first choice in places to live though.

Texas, no funny orange suits, miles and miles of the Gulf of Mexico. Bays loaded with speckle trout and red fish. Lots of geese, ducks, dove and quail

Exotic game both free range and high fence, coons, Lions and Bobcats with no season or quota.

Large lakes and rivers with bass, catfish, stripebass, hybrids, white bass and crappie.

Alligator hunting

Deer and hogs everywhere.

Yes, it’s true lot’s of private land with hard access but once you’re in your in. You do have to pay for deer leases but they are easy to get and most of them offer year round hunting and fishing .

I also have access to several very large high fence ranches loaded with game that are excellent for training young hounds. There large enough to get lost on.

Your from Cali, O ya theres nothing to hunt in Colorado, I don't know who told you that but someone keeps spreading a nasty rumor. I would go to Texas if I was you.

can you give me the deal on peublo? whats wrong with the place? I am looking to get out of california, to get away from california if you catch what I mean. I was raised in LA county. I do not want raise kids in such an enviroment, and I dont want to be in a ghetto crap area.
