Spring Creek Rock is nothing more then another fine branch off of Finley River. Spring Creek Rock was out of Spring Creek CB (Cannon Ball) and CB was out of Finley River Chief. Finley River used to be some of the best tracking walkers out there several generations ago, IMO

My hounds are heavy spring creek rock in them, they are good gamey dogs that get the job done for me. They have plenty of nose, grit and heart, they seem to have a trait about them that they want please you. They do not walk on water or any of the cool things some of these guys want to say that there dogs can, but they do catch game if given the chance.

It seems to me the trait of wanting to please is something i see alot in the Finley River dogs. I think with the right cross they are still some of the best trail and tree dogs out there. There are a lot of outcrosses and some of the bloodlines are getting dated. jmho.

I recognize most of the dogs in that ped.. The bottom half has been pushed more as show dogs.. Doesn't mean they won't hunt.. They have just been pushed as purty... Topside looks good.. I would try it.. But then again I am about dumb enough to try just a darn bout anything

thanks

Yeah pushed as hunters for sure.. I would be curious to how those pups turn out.. It's old blood.. I like old blood... Best of luck with them..
Now I am going to go out on a limb here, but with the "show" dogs that hunt, I am going to guess they start a little later.. Just saying that because I think they are pushed as show dogs first and then once they have accomplished what they want with them, they get put out in the woods.. Just my guess..

another line of dogs that go back to spring creek rock and finley river are the neosho river bred dogs, they are known for their tracking abilities as well, as for the dogs that are put on the bench that does not hurt this line of dogs that much either, it just shows that they are put together right.

just for the record finley river nite hawk was one hell of a good dog and a reproducer of hunting dogs. I personally spent quite a few nites in the woods with him and pups out of him. one of the better bear dogs i ever hunted with was a pup i owned out of him.
