I use a HMK snowmobile backpack that has straps for a snowboard but I use them to keep my snowshoes on carries all I need. First aid kit, pistol, ammo, shovel, pitch and lighter, flares, also carries my snowmobile shovel, lights, garmin antenna, etc.

Its strapped on the back of my sled.

I'm a foot hunter and I use a camelpak hydration backpack. It can be a little heavy at times, but it's better than having to hump all the way back to the truck for something.

thanks for all the replies i too am a foot hunter some times for 6 to 8 hours i like the vests cause it keeps everything in the front for easy access, im not knocking the back packs just anytime u need something u have to stop walking take it off and get out what u need. i also like the vest system for coon hunting after you skin a coon through hide in trash bag through it in pouch in back and go

You make a good point, it does get old after a while, but I am able to reach some things by reaching around, but for the tracker, the bag has to come off. Does your vest have a water bladder in it? How does it do when you are running. Backpacks suck at that too!

I use a Eberlestock x1 pack and love it.. My gun fits in it so both hands are free and have water and snacks, matches, first aid,and most important toilet paper.. Got tired of ripping the sleeves off my shirts!!!haha

no my turkey vest doesnt have bladder in it. thats why i put a couple water bottles in now i do have a pack that is real nice that has a bladder when i go hiking i can carry alot of stuff in but i wont use it for bear or coon hunting to much a pain in the you know what to take off and on. now that i think about it it wouldnt take much to sew in a elongated pocket in side the back of any ot the vests i have looked at to put a bladder in. as far as attaching a gun i only carry a rugger 480 pistol any more bear hunting

I pick up a paint ball gun vest at a yard sale. It'"s not perfect but $5 it works for me. No h2o bladder.what I like about a vest is you can jump in and out of the truck without removing it.
