Here are three links that all say the same thing for the ingredients (hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and liquid dish soap):

Lots of time eventually works also.

If you do mix up that solution, don't store it in a closed containter, it will explode!

LOL!
Mthound and Full Cry hound told you all you need to know--- that method works.
believe me in 52 years I have tried everything....
the peroxide baking soda and dish soap is the only thing that consistanly works! I have had to use it on myself to get back in the house.
Like dean said do not try to put it in a closed container and even if you hope to mix it up and use later, it will not keep as the action of it will eat itself up in a short period..
just keep the peroxide, baking soda and dish soap handy so you can get it when needed!

I used it about two months ago and it worked on the dog, as for the collars not so much hahaha. Must be married since you say before I could get back in the house that made me laugh. Thanks for the tips your think maybe just repetition on the collars would work?

You need to train your dogs a little better. I have found two dead skunks killed by my hounds in the kennel. Not a drop of spray anywhere. I don't know how they did it, but I'm sure glad I didn't have to deal with the smell!

My father in law has a pack of terriers and they pack around it dancing around and then his female darts it in and shakes it dead before it can spray anything. Pretty cool.
Today i had a close encounter, we trapped a skunk. I decided I would slowy and calmy walk up undo the trap wall and let it out. Well while slowy and calmy trying to open the trap the pin slipped and scared the skunk it jumped at me and tried to bite me. Scared me i thought i was gonna get sprayed and have to walk home because my father in law said i wouldn't be able to ride in the jeep lol. But sure enough opened the door went to the store and came back it was gone.

I release a dozen or so skunks from traps each year that people set to catch a squirrel or something else and then call me to help them. You just go up slowly and open the door and wait. Skunks don't run out like most animals, they are basically blind and can't see very far in front of them. They can see movement ten feet away but no detail. I've actually had them walk out and go between my legs. Just don't move and they won't spray.
As far as getting the smell out of the collar, bury it in the dry dirt for about 6-7 days. The enzymes in the dirt are by far the best thing to get smell out. But for obvious reasons, can't be used for most things, like your dog. When I have a skunk spray in one of my traps, I fill it full of dirt and come back in a week and all the smell is gone.

Yeah its suprising how the keep calm and collective thing works so well. But thanks for the bury the collar idea i'll have to try it if they ever get sprayed or my trap does.

I caught a skunk in a coyote set. I can promise you shooting them through the lungs with a 30-30 makes them spray. Luckily it was a windy day, I got upwind and could not smell it as I undid the foot trap.
