lion hunters in CA

I recently heard of a guy who went on an out of state lion hunt killed and taxidermied his lion and then brought it back to California which all of us that are so blessed to live in this great state know that's not allowed hahaha. I heard the dfg took the lion and cited him. It apparently went before a judge and the guy beat it and the state allowed him to have it. Im guessing he won on some kind of constitutional legality. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this story and if so can you tell me how to find the story? Thank you very much.

I'd be interested in hearing about this too. After Prop 117 was passed, the tannery's in CA were not allowed to accept a Mt. lion in to get tanned even though it was legally taken from another state. I can't see how that was legal either. I was using New Method back then and since I tan a lot of cats each year, I ended up having to find a new tanner.

If we can find the case of the guy verses the state we don't need an attorney. What'd good for the goose is good for the gander. He did all the leg work we just need to find that case!!!!!
