Basic training

I took a 8 month old in trade for one of my new pups out of a blood line that I was interested in. The pup has been making races, all the races since 4 months old??. I have said in the past that I would not take a pup that I had not raised that just got reinforced again. Why do people hunt dogs that early without the basic training. Life is so much easier if a dog is worked at home to get all the basics before they are hunted. Come on command, sit and load. Tim and I have hunted 14 dogs lose, 6 under 1 year and not have a deer race. All you have to do is hit the tone when they get interested in one and all the dogs are right with us immediately. A lot of our dogs may never get shocked for deer. The time one spends with a dog not hunting pays off in so many ways. All may dogs are let lose every morning and night to run and to the bathroom, they come and kennel when called and are trained not to leave and go hunting on there own. This starts at two weeks old. If you don't have time for the basic how can you expect the dogs to hunt when they are ready. The time wasted on looking for lost dogs or trash breaking while hunting takes a lot of time from catching cats. Just venting, thanks for reading. Dewey
