Im not an expert on the subject. But when you cross breed cattle you get a cross breed vigor, they out gain everything else. Im sure dogs are the same way. If you keep crossbreeding you lose that crossbred vigor and end up with trash. If nobody kept your breed pure what would we end up with. Would they keep getting better, breeding best to best or would we end up trash after awhile. Im no expert just curious.

im not sure if you kept doing it if it would be bad our not. I know dale cole in oklahoma has been breeding cross bred dogs ror many years and they are great bobcat dogs. I myself like my walkers but have hunted with some darn good cross breds.

All the hound breeds were started as crossbreds that were bred until they bred true. I think why a lot of crossbred dogs you see are good is because whoever bred them had a plan as to what they wanted to produce, that was the reason they made the cross in the first place instead of raising a litter of pretty purebred pups.

Well said SNBT, We always cross a Purebred with a Heinz 57, the first few litters seem to be better than anything.
Those dogs dont seem to have the weak immunities either. But I still love the intensity a purebred seems 2 have. So I always have both on hand.
Nose dogs and speed dogs always make a good cross.

The question is just too hard for me to know wich too pick, thers bear dogs born from both types and I don`t care how hard you hunt em and for how long either/ though it sure helps too do both ; but when ya finally deside ok letes put ole Bubba out solo on the next 3 bear and he maybe trees 1 of three, so ya say make it 5 solo bear hopeing he can tree up 3-5, haveing 1-3 now and 2 more shots at it and maybe he trees 1 more of those remaining 2 bear/ now hes at2-5 bears he treed up . Hed better have a good alabi for the other 3 bear ? If he can tree 3-4 hes a bear dog not a bear chaser !
Ya can count real beardogs on one hand in your area most like and maybe have several fingers not held up cause ya count count but 1 or 2 and if ya counted 3 I`m thinken (hummmm ?) I`m talken only of 1 dog loose hunted anddoest it solo ! So for this reason man invented the pack and it works nicely/ no harm no fowl . But I`m pretty much in thinking (in my own held openion) as humble as it might be/ a real bear dog solo /not he and the guys colectevly ! Yep a beardog must just be born too it, most arn`t and the exception too the rule is that .
The question answer tnbearhunter realy is asken by how it should of been stated is the hunter who is the best bear dog of their kept dogs? Which hunter who deploys more than one hound is wize enoughf and tuff enoughf and experienced seasoned enoughf too makethe higher successfull endings on their packs hunts !?
I never owned a real bear dog but I`ve own a couple here and there as a pair who gotit done ok too suit me . They caused a few bear too loose their lives as Ol Roger Stutart would say about his ol Jill bitch !

First of all this is a stupid question. A cross bred dog has the same chance of making a good dog as a purebred. A hound is a hound, breed what can hunt.
