As you all heard SB1221 was passed today on a 3 to 2 vote. I dunno if you would all consider doing this but myself and a few houndsmen in my neck of the woods, are boycotting bear and bobcat season this year. I refuse to buy tags for bear and bobcat this year and by doin so, I will pass up a few good opportunities but it is for the best. As you all know California's economy is very weak, and I'm not in favor for helping a state that screws us hunters over. They give aide to the people that don't desreve it and screw over the ones who work for a living. California fish and game is already suffering and is having extreme difficulties in affording new game wardens. They can not hire without our fundings, limiting their power. They miht try to raise state taxes but they have been and will always do this. Lets hit them in the wallet. I hope you are all with me on this until the full senate and come in and fix what has been ruined. Thanks for hearing me out.

if this is passed on the house floor will it not be passed by this season?

I believe though it is passed only on the floor, its now state law enforced. Game warden can enforce state and fed law so I believe at this point, its illegal

I certainly won't be buying tags then lets watch that almost 1 million dollars in bear tags diminish and the millions of dollars we spend on gas, tires, shocks, maps, etc disapear i hope california goes in the drain. I will be going to sac state and they'll probably raise my tuition again. but whats new they take our hunting and try to do the same with our education, if things don't change they will simply see the last of me, my family and our dogs.

yeah me and him talk on here hopefully we get to meet up and bag a nice buck each. We were gonna run some bears together soon but obviously thats far outta reach.

I don't know what the current $ are today but from the last bear report I can find from 1998 the dept. of fish and game est. the bear hunter alone spent over $8,000,000.00 with gas prices doubling or more since then and the unlimited # of bear tags being sold now this # would have had to have doubled. I would be all over not spending the money on bear and bobcat tags, I would think that fish and game would feel the hit.

bowtech, wanapasaki, you guys have a good point. I already have bears picked out for the next season. But I am down wih this too. Let the state break and the popuation get out of control. I don't know know if I can give up my hunting for a year, but doesn't mean we cant hunt elsewhere. Lets hope we can just kill this in the house, or with the govenor so we don't have to give up anything. If so, I have a place in Oklahoma we can put some bobcats up come wintertime.
Lets try and fix it first.

The bill will not go into effect even if it passes till 2013. And yes the HSUS will have won a small battle but not the war. The hunters in my region are also boy cotting the tags and licenses this year. I will get off my ass and run drags bought out of state for one year to keep my god given rights. George Washington was a houndsmen for f sake. We need to band together or yes those uneducated ones will pass this bill let's fight on a financial level guys

Sounds good to me everyone, lets keep this rolling! HSUS didn't win though cuz I will still run my hounds on foxes and raccoons, and will make sure and keep those populations in check lol.

yeah bryce i feel yeah, i know we had been talking about all those bears you've been seeing. and you might have coons and fox's to run but you know there gonna take those away to.

Do you guys really think that anyone will care, or feel the pinch if you don't buy tags? You have to remember that the state isn't a private, for profit, company. The amount of money we spend on tags and licenses is a drop in a very large bucket and will probably never be noticied. The leglislators who allow this to pass are going to get paid and they have proven they could care less about the publics money. The way I see it, your only hurting yourself but more power to you if you think its the thing to do.

Here is a fun fact for u we generated over 20 million just in sbear and bob tags last year thats a pretty big drop in anyone's bucket. And also point proven this is why the state is screwed because no body has anyone's back anymore. Whatever happened to back your brothers play right wrong or in different? And no the senators won't feel the financial effect till reelection and they single handedly put fish and game out of business. If no one hunted for one year or fish they would go under. Jmo

Ringo is exactly right. If everyone sat out on the fishing and hunting for one year they'd be screwed. I mean don't even buy a general license to hunt fox, coon, deer, coyotes or anything. Hell run over to Nevada, Oregon or Arizona if you want to hunt but don't give Ca a dollar. They'll go under so fast it isn't funny.
