Oregon's Hunting Future

I think the point has been driven home so I made a change on the heading....We all know who we need to be concerned with....I sure didn't like hearing what my District Representative had to say about our odds of passing a ballot measure....That said, I think public awareness and fund raising starting right now to prove our one supporting legislator in Salem Oregon wrong is the place to start....

Please....Lets not drop the ball and be reactive....Lessons learned from other States in close proximity should reinforce the need to push forward starting now....

Thanks to all who want to get involved....OOC has a banquet tomorrow in Pendleton Or. Friends of NRA will be present....Check them out on Facebbok or the web...

Mike I sent a email, even though I dont live in OR I did not tell them that. I think if you would make a pre made email were all we have to do is put in our name, a lot more of us would send one. Just a idea they did one for the guys in Calif that way for the bill they are trying to fight. Make it easy and you might be surprised how many of us will send a email.

Thanks Lookin Up and TK....

lookin up, You make a valid point about making up an e-mail and making it easy for hound hunters to send a generated e-mail to our politicians....

Sadly in a meeting with District 17 Representative Sprenger we had a chance to ask what will be the odds of passing a bill to overturn measure 18 from 1994. This is in reference to the drive to fund and support a ballot measure in 2014....She just said slim to none....
Rep. Sprenger lives with liberals in Salem and liberal Oregonians so she deals in reality...Here is her logic.....

Hound hunters don't write checks to support their own cause and never will....Most would rather put a few dollars in the tank and go hunting....She is good with that but is quick to say....Don't get to excited if you aren't willing to go the extra mile....Unlike the environmentalist who are aligned and well funded with a huge war chest of funds.

Her logic to keep presenting a pilot progam for cougar is simple....Keep hammering the liberals with something...Fact based truth into who and what replaced sport hound hunters in Oregon....Ain't much but better than doing nothing....

wow you guys really need to get politicle, over here they tried to ban us left right and centre so all hunters got together through the sporting shooter assoc. and formed the shooters party now we hold the balance of power in the senate and we have more access to public land for hunting then we ever had before and have the major partys bargining with us to get their bills through of couse it come at a price to them.

you guys need to be doing some sacking and the only way to do that is be there boss.
good luck

I heard that there is a huntin club out of bend with some big money that is going to back OHA in the fight, since HB 4119 died in the house ( ways and means ), i don't know if it's true or not just heard it today.
Since measure 18 was the ban of baiting and the running of bears and long tails, OHA is going to present it to the house in the same form, instead of a pilot progam that ODF would like to see..
like i said don't know if it's true or not..
down here the ODF head quarters is in centrall point and i know that all the cats killed by the goverment hunter has to be checked in and then put in the land fill, and thats a big pit out behind the building

Many of us who bought lifetime memberships have talked.Would guys that also have/hold a guide's license consider along with some of the rest of us,offering a free guided hunt to those that will put up a contribution of $5000+/-[trying to get an idea??].I feel the folks who would finacially be able to do this would like/enjoy a hunt for part of our gratitude.Any feedback would be great!!

www.oregonoutdoorcouncil.org. is the most solid bet we have had for some time. Thanks Mike for the reminder....Tim, Sounds great except for one thing....You would possibly have to go out of state or Country to make a guided hunt possible....

I had a visit with a fellow houndsman today and he indicated he was bent on going after $10,000 dollars in donations from his local area hitting the bricks calling on all who hunt or fish or that would be willing to donate money to the cause....I will begin doing the same in my area...Door to Door.

This is the best shot we have and might just as well get started fund raising today.
I would like to make a challenge and possibly have a top prize for most dollars donated?
I will collect the donors information and make the contribution in the donors name for tax purposes and accountability by simply keeping a daily ledger.

Mike you are right. This is the best chance we've had and it's time to go after what we want. The time is now for all of us to stand together and go the extra mile to regain our hunting tradition. I've been around alot of houndsmen and never saw many that would back down from anything, so this issue should light a fire because we been taking a beating for years. I will do my part and hope anyone that can help will. Just remember you don't have to stand tall but you at least have to stand.

Mike....Good to figure out who you are on BGH....Sometimes I wished Buddy would make it mandatory to have a first and last name..... I would still screw up who is who....

Tim, I'm guessing a person could do an Oregon bobcat hunt....The only guy I know who could do this is U.R.E...(Hint) I would be Glad to donate a hunt here but would be pushing the law for a donation in return to our cause by not having a guides license.

I talked to Jerod Broadfoot and got lined out for collecting donations for OOC.

Each and evey day I meet a new and upcoming young hunter....I don't always do things right according to some.....I guarantee you, I will dang sure be doing something....We fight hard we can gain back our rights....I listened to Tred Barta going to the hounds in Canada as he stated.....This hunt isn't about me.....This hunt is about us....Lets get working now!

Is there any flyers available for oregonoutdoorcouncil that i can hand out. Maybe some that will be very attractive to deer and elk hunters. Then they can send money directly to the cause. That would be easier for me. The ultimate prize would be to restore hunting bear and cougar with my kids. Count me in on whatever i need to do.

I am also like Mr. Martell in the part I would gladly guide a hunt if I had a guides license.
