what yall think bout coon feeders an what you make em outta?

Think they r a great tool for training pups n young dogs . When I used to hunt n train coon dogs that's what I used them for. Plastic buckets or PVC .

i used a old mail box nailed to a tree it worked great. I put my trail cam up and got some pics of a few big coons and one big old toad. I will try to put the pics on here.

so how do yall make em?

Tire with the rim mounted drill three 1 1/2" into the side wall. fill it with corn add some water. Water just lets you know if coon been to feeder recently or not.

Here is one I use-- 245-75R16LT tire..hung in the tree and wired to where it is only about 1 1/4 inch open. put corn in it then Grape Kool-aid then fill with water-- takes about 2 gallon of corn each time-- the Koolaid will draw them quick-- the softened corn will keep them coming.if you keep the water above the corn it HELPS keep squirrels out--- but some of them will still get in.

I use a tire with the wheel still mounted up. Use a 2inch hole saw drill bit and drill atleast 4 holes around the side wall or more and then use a big funnel and fill tire with corn. I drive a Tpost in the ground in the center of the wheel to keep pigs from flipping the tire and about the only thing that is able to get the corn is a coon because they have to reach in and grab the corn, be sure and drill some smaller holes in the bottem side of tire or it will fill with water and just get to nasty. Ive shined a light on mine before at night and seen TEN or more coons many times. Ive also used old wheat seed and poured in mine and the coons love it. If you got a hunt coming up with friends and wanna spice things up a little! A day or two b4 yall go hunting, pour some molasses or buck jam all over the tire and let it run down in the holes and it makes the coons really come in good every night. But this can get costly all the time! lol, good luck and good hunting.

im looking to put out coon feeders that are quick and easy but yet I don't have to go fill them every day. iv tried using five gallon buckets and such but where I am I have lots of bears and they tear right through them. so I need something that is also bear proof. any idea's!?

Pvc feeder for the bears. After getting the feeder put where u want it wrap barbwire around it. the full length of the feeder should have barb wire going around and around. works good for.a friend of.mine that has bear problems

Go to a propane shop. They usually have a bunch of 20 pounders in the scrap pile. rusty, pin holes, old style valves, etc. they gave me a bunch. weld a spout on the bottom. about the same size as a 5 gallon bucket and bear proof.
