Check your antenae connections....we run in water almost all the time, never have this problem. Have both old collars and Dayglo.

I was waiting for Buddy to answer this one. Nothing yet, so here it is.

There is no way what you did would have any effect on the collar in the water. The antenna connector does not have any means of allowing water into the unit Nor would changing the collar cause the problem.

Most likely you are just loosing signal for some reason when the dogs enter the water. Collar twisted so antenna under it. A disruption in line of sight. Or, perhaps you damaged the GPS antenna when changing the collars.

I had 6 dc30, most being 2 years old so I changed batteries in 5 of them. Since doing that in less than 2 months I lost 4 collars to water damage. I think that small red gasket must have had a little dirt on it when I put them all back together. When I opened them back up there was moister inside the battery compartment. The 1 collar I never changed batteries in is still fine and the other collar I took back apart and sealed it with a fine bead of liquid gasket.
All have been on dayglo collars from day one.
