I have heard rumors about the dc 50 collar coming out soon, has any one else heard anything? I am not too impressed with the dc 40 and the dc 30 are hard to find.

I don't think it will be called a DC50... In fact I don't think it will be called an astro, I think it will be a Completely separate System... But I'm not positive..

That is way to funny!!! I started the rumor of the DC50 almost 2 years ago!!!!! It was funny last year when my vet said he was going to wait for the DC50. He was serious, and I laughed at him at that time.

knowing garmin one never knows! but if someone was going to tell me what ever it was wasn't compatible. i was going to tell them i had a good name for it. (the stick it in your hind end garmin) take care!

Well maybe the Garmin guy at the sportsman that was talking to me was full of crap... We'll just have to wait a couple more weeks to find out.

I actually think making it not compatible will be a good thing. You'll still be able to get and use the 320's and DC40's (Still Wish it was the DC30's) Or you can move to the new system.

Think of it like Ford has two trucks, buying a ranger, Vs. buying a Full size truck. Different options, different products. they are not compatible. If you own a Ranger, you'll buy the parts for a ranger, but some guys would trade in the ranger and Get a F series truck.

So Hopefully if they are not compatible, it will be a good thing and they will work on some of the Issues that we have been asking for.

Steve are you field testing for Garmin again this year or did they skip you?

personally i have watched the garmin circus enough. and even participated in it (320 & dc-40). so far pretty good luck, and enjoy it but am skeptical. it is unexcuseable and irresponsible for a company to peddle their trash on the public. either get the product to field testers and give adequit time for them to find out what the bugs are or. make good on on their junk. i know it is possible to accomplish this, as wild life materials gave duane smith one of the first DTR-6's before they were available for sale. and than i bought one of the first ones available. kept it for 6 years, sold it to dan furman in walton n.y. and to my knowledge it is still working today. and that was more than thirty freakin years ago. that is what a company that wants a good reputation produces! i guess a company that constantly wants to roll ya over in the clover. will always have customers, for some have no idea what their hounds are doing with out the vidio game running. i think they are a good aid and have many benefits, but there is no reason for the parasites to constantly be sucking your money. just my feeling!

SE- That is what Garmin has done now. Although it may not always seem that they are hearing what is said, or can implement the changes we want practically. No magic wand when it comes to this stuff!

They listened with the 320. They were put out to hound guys, bird dog guys and even people in other countries as prototypes for over 8 months of field testing before even making the media release about them. Problems were found and created and the techs at Garmin listened and corrected the problems. If there is a new system in production all you will hear are rumors until they make the press release. It is only good business sense to keep trying to improve what you have as the consumers demand it

guys, i'm not saying they are not enjoyable. but am i the only one that sees the simularitys like new gun calibers, new flat screen tvs. new cell phones, new computors, etc etc. i just look at wild life, johnson, tracker, and some of the others that have catered to houndsmen. and delivered a long lasting product. and sometimes feel garmin is playing us like a fiddle. with sometimes (most) not really providing a superior product. take care!

This is 2012...there's no money in making something last. Tell me how long your last $200 cell phone lasted. Everything made nowdays seems to be disposable, use it a year or two, throw it away and buy a new one...just the way it is.
I haven't had one complaint about my garmin(knock on wood) so I don't know if I'm part of a lucky few or what. Geez, it's 2 years old now (ancient) bout time they come out with something new.

i hate to ask as i have just about gave up checking. are they made in china?

I like my 320, the only 3 things I can think of that I would like to see changed is battery life of the collars and unit. Being able to link the 320s to other 320s and see their location on the screen, and decent radio communication. For you guys in the loop on that stuff how much extra would it cost to build one that does that. or at the very least how much extra would it cost to be able to link the receivers together and see the location?

Timothy, Battery life with every thing out there is an issue. I wish my phone would last a full day with use. This part of it has really been beaten to death in many other threads.

I agree on the location of other units. But in order for that to be done. Would require another transmitter to be added to the unit. This would really not be practical IMO. Not only then would you have a problem with possible interference with collars. If using the same channels. If they put the same transmitter in that the Rhino has. Then there would be complaints about the range of that. Being that it uses the GMRS/FRS band. It is really not worth a crap in the woods. UHF is about like using 2 soup cans and string. Especially in areas where you have pine trees. The needles absorb UHF signals. I really don't know how companies claim 30 mile ranges, but I have never seen it. Using far superior equipment than a walk about! Spent a lot of money on it to only switch to VHF in the end. This would be of great use my group during the coyote season. We tend to put guests, and new hunters with a colllar. So we know where they are and can move them as needed. We hunt thick woods. Knowing where each other is also a huge safety thing when shots start ringing out. We had a guy using a rifle last year. Wanted to wrap that around his head a few times, as I was ducking for cover.

Is it not strange that folks complain about new products coming out with improvements. But yet complain about the current products having problems. Can't change the hardware in units that are out in consumers hands already.
