What kind of snowshoes do you guys use when hunting? Or is it pretty much snowmobiles?

If you're on a snowmobile, you better have a pair of snowshoes with you. You can get yourself in a tough situation in a hurry in deep snow if you're hunting by yourself. I have a set of Tubbs 30" I use. Only use them when I have to, which is a couple times a year.

Sleds can't take you everywhere you need to go, you gotta have snowshoes too if you're hunting the high country. Almost any of the new generation snowshoes will do you a good job.....with Tubbs being the top of the list. The pair I use currently are Yukon Charlies which do alright, but the bindings can be awkward.

Here is a picture of me on a late spring lion hunt where the snow is crusty enough to walk on in the morning, but once it warms up, you gotta have snowshoes to get back out.....

I recommend using a pair of snow shoes that have good bindings and nothing cloth/nylon style that can freeze up on you when snow gets on them. I have the cabelas outfitter style that has bindings just like a snowboard. I also recommend using a packpack that has a way to easy haul them, I have a snowmobile pack that has a couple bindings for a snowboard that I use to keep my snowshoes on with.

MSR Lightning Ascent. They are pretty pricey but well worth it.

I use the cabelas outfitter series 36". I don't have a sled so i spend a ton of time in them and they work great. It does take some time to figure them out and build up the leg muscles used.

MSR Lightning Axis. Good bindings that "swivel" to align the shoes to correct for being pigeon toed or duck footed. Keeps the shoes parallel to each other. Just all around good shoes that aren't cheap in any fashion, price or quality.
