My wife got this dog and I'm trying to figure out what it is. I know it's some kind of hound. I'd guess its anywhere from 8-10 weeks old and weighs about 15 lbs. Any thoughts?





The red and white one. The other is our bluetick x pup, also 10 weeks.

Well he's some kind of mix. Here's a better angle.

The other one didn't come up the first time. Are they siblings? Even if they are they could be pure bred English. They can be a variety of colors(like a chocolate, black and yellow lab). Although, if you weren't there when they were bred, you'll never know for sure........

Nope not siblings, but similar age. The black one is taller and leaner, the red one is much thicker and a few inches shorter.

The red pup does look like an English or English cross of sorts.. The black one, to me, looks more like a Pointer pup that didn't have it's tail docked.....

Live action.

I'm thinking that red dog has some basset mixed in. The "bluetick may have some spaniel, setter, pointer or something in the bird dog family mixed in....

He's staying steady in growth with the black one. They're both about 35 lbs right now, up from 15 when those pics were shot.

Yeah figured that out in the mean time. Anyone have any luck with eye lubricant and massaging it back down? Otherwise going to have to go the surgery route.

I sure do not know of a quick remedy but------ beware of the money vets-- they will want to put it to sleep and charge big $$$ for that-- most good vets will apply a solution to deaden the feeling,put a hemostat on it and clip it out,, then they apply some terimacin ointment and send a little tube with you -- for about $30-50-- the last 2 I had were done on the tailgate of the pickup with no problems--- the one that I let the vet do in his office--$95 and her eyes were dry after that

Thanks. Going to work on it more, he's a real wiggler (young pup) so it's difficult to keep him still.
