does anyone know where i can get pills for infection . the vet here wont sell them unless i bring the dog in for an office visit. i get pennicillian a block away at the feed store but only in injection form.

The pills are labeled for fish, but that way they can sell it to you without a prescription. You may be able to find the pills cheaper by doing a 'google' search. Make sure you know what your paying for, there is the 250mg and 500mg pills.

yeah go online to revival pet meeds they have them labeled as fish and bird pills. if you purchase the "forte" type it is a higher dose, just follow directions and dose accordingly.

thanks guys . i hate using the shot seems like the dogs dont appriciate it much either. i think i will give them the shot right off then finish with the pills.

The last 3 times I've taken a dog to the vet, they have prescibed Cephalelexin for infection. I've since ordered a couple of bottles of it.

Amoxicillin is the best from personal experience (or clavamox), have also used Cephalexin with good results if I run out...I work at the vet's so I pretty much can get whatever is needed!

I use inject ables for most stuff as it does work sooner and better in most cases. I do use pills or tablets when im hunting as soon as we have a issue. I've found the quicker you clean and treat a wound and give the first dose your much less likely to have a.y serious infections set in. I rinse then use a powder for bleeding wounds or a cream for dry cuts etc. then use a vet wrap and pill until we get to home/camp . Some of the worst infections ive had arise from dogs wading in dirt tanks or similar before we get back.

i have pills and liquid where is the best place to inject it. just under the skin or in the muscle the bottle says in muscle?
