Cut what seemed like a nice cat on fresh snow. I turned my male on the track right at daylight and he trailed it about 300 yards only opening two times, the track started gaining elevation and it sounded like it was warming up. I followed their trail til we hit a skid road and he really picked up speed from there. I heard what sounded like a locate bawl then bayed hard like he was looking at him. I hiked my fat butt to the top of the rock outcrop where I could hear him hammering when my son turned my two 6 month old pups loose 400 yards behind me. They blazed past me just in time to hear my male start moving the track again and the pups soon caught up with him. Just as as they started heading out into some roadless country, my batteries died in the garmin so I had to wait for my son and friend to get to me with extra batteries. While I was waiting for em I backtracked the dogs and cat to see what happened, and found where the cat had bayed up on a sheer rocky point then jumped off probably when heard me coming. Finally got batteries changed and realized I had to backtrack a mile and a half back to the truck cause dogs had moved out 2 more miles on me onto private property. When I got there they were right above the road and circling another rocky pinnacle, just then a doe popped out on the road right in front of them, and I thought they switched to trash on me, so I got ready to push the button when they made a sharp left and kept on trailing. I snuck up behind them to verify what they were running and found three dog tracks right on top of the cat track. Sounded like were about ready to tree when the property owner pulled up to kick me off the property and I hope I didn't mess the dogs up by toning them to get em back. Two came to me right away, but had to chase down one of the pups. The dogs don't have much in the way of toenails left and they're walking a little stiff legged, better heal up quick cause snows a comin
