How many of you let dogs go on trial and do you do it with or without cash in hand

depends on who is trying them. i listed some dogs on here this year and said that the person had to come hunt with me to see the dogs work with me. not one person should up. if u give a trail have cash in hand.

Depends on who the person is on an individual basis. I just posted a dog with No trial,please come and hunt here. That is not always possible as J.C. indicated. I think when you ask a good price for a hound a person should see the dog work. I let a dog go on trial with cash in hand. This way, I put my money where my mouth is and so does the buyer....I'm not a dog peddler and want the new owner to enjoy and catch game in his State not on my turf!
NOT A GOOD PRACTICE!
We have a mutual friends base and I trust his friends, good enough for me! Would I do this on a regular basis....No! Many hunters are not capable of handling a dog properly.

Its also hard from the buying side. You have to put a lot of trust in the seller even if doing cash in hand trial period. seems to be pretty easy for people these days to just blow you off if dog doesnt work or just blame it on the buyer. I think its always better to go see the seller handle the dog and buy it under the tree. But just not always possible. Wish people were still as good as there word and more trust worthy

i think it is good to go hunt with the owner then take the dog on trial and see what it does with you

I would not sell a dog without a trial,or buy one for that matter. cash has got to be in my hand and I give them 30 days. never had one come back yet!

The problem is everyone has a different idea of what a "good prospect" is. What may produce for you in the wrong hands may be handled incorrectly and those guys think it is s@#t. The problem is those guys are s#@t. And don't know how to hunt properly. That is the problem with the world wide web. A lot of talk and little action. The only way to see about a dog is go hunt with it and learn it. I've sold dogs never having a problem and I've sold dogs to the ignorant and only gotten grief. And getting the dog back confused or wrecked.- Lance
