Folks I am going to try something a little different with this story. I was able to shoot some so so video and I going to set each clip up and let the Hounds tell the story with a little Real time narration. This will take an edit or two to complete as these take a while to render through Tiny Pic.
We have three old Dogs-Corky, Rose and Cimarron; 2 Apprentice Cat Hounds-Brazos and Pecos; as well as 6- 7 to 11 month old Pups-Missy, Caddo Rivers, Cat, Kitty, Buck and Trinity.
On the Clip I state that it is a Big Tom we are running, well it turned out to be an old Big Sow. she weighed just over 20#. As we have said before females seldom weigh over 15 #s. However in this Club there must be an Amazon Gene as this is the 8th to weigh over 20#s. They were all old and had very small genital development.

Folks at the end of the last Clip you will get a better idea of just how thick it is where this is taking place.
Cimarron is the loud scream, Corky is the big heavy chop, Brazos sounds like someone is chocking him, Missy and Kitty are the little high pitched chops, Caddo Rivers gets a good pick up with his Baritone chop.

This is the bayup and catch....not to graphic so I posted it. These young Hounds have not learned to hold the Cat till I tell them it is OK to kill it. I would have on this one anyway as we still thought it a Tom.

That's what I like to hear!! I got a bigger kick out of listening to those races than a hundred dead cat pics. Good job, keep em coming!!
Haven't let a dog go in two weeks due to weather, the sound of those hounds sure gives me an itch to get out there..

Really cool video. On the 3rd clip, I swear I heard a locate. About 2/3 through the video it sure sounds like the cat went up. Did he go up? Or did he duck & hide then take back down his back trail?
Pretty neat, thanks for sharing. That country looks pretty simular to some of the reprod. units we hunt here on the coast, w/o the snakes & gators thank goodness. Take care, tell your dad thank you. John.

John,
The Ole Cat is just ducking and dodging (what we call squatting) in this mess. there were some holes of water that she was using to her advantage.
She crossed the road over a dozen times, running up it till the swinging Hounds knocked her out of it.
That Locate was Caddo Rivers trying to bay, probably he had found where the Cat had stopped momentarily, as Corky and Brazos made the pickup a short ways to the West. CR is 11 months old and going to maybe make forget Ole Rivers.

Really cool. A hunter in this country hunts a couple seasons to hear a cat race, where the cat will work so tight to the hunter. Hell, I hunted all nite and didnt even start a track. I should have slept and got my hound fix right here. Thanks again. John.

Thanks for sharing. Yes Warner it can sure be along time between races that allow for that much close enjoyment here. I always hoped cats would stay in the heavy vegetation like that one. Think that gave me better odds at a bayup. Sure can see why you folks drive to florida. Areas like that without large rocks and or bluffs with very steep terrain are hard to find here with a good cat population in them. That race reminded me of years ago hunting With Tom Barnett, with all those flag tail hounds & those high pitched voices. ( my favorites) Also glad to hear most are left to run again. Thanks again to the Clays Al

Thanks Fellows, Glad your enjoying them!
Mr. Ed, good luck with getting it going again...keep the Preacher lined up with keeping the "Shadow Line Going"!
Mr. Dan, when we get back to AR, take a long weekend and come see us. We might even have a Hound to send to IL and can pay for some of your gas.
T. Malone it looks like Mom and I will be making a trip your way this Spring. Hope We can hook up for Coffee and maybe a Hunt! Maybe get a chance to meet Ms. Emily who keeps us all posted on Hound News!
Mr. Robert, it will rain here some time then the Hounds will be able to smell! Come back down and make a Hunt with us!

Nice Job Mr Clay! that had to take a lot of work to get that all filmed and organized so we could view it all lined up like that. I cant even imagine how you did that. thank you so much for going to all that trouble.
I dont know how to possibly get on film how thick some of that brush out there is. But It sure looks like you could just walk out through there for a mile. Trust me, you cant. If you can crawl like a snake, maybe. But then you are crawling with a snake, maybe.
To me, one amazing thing about you guys is that you are hunting with six pups out there, and you do it all the time. And these pups have not got the work that most of Finneys pups would have had by this age because I know he has not felt so good. It is a remarkable thing. i would ask you how many trash races those pups started, but i already know how many. It is a beautiful thing. it sure is fun to watch those pups turning it on. That is what it is all about for me personally.
Thanks again. You are a fine human being and a wonderful credit to our sport. Thanks for all you do to share your father with the world, and keep your dad in the woods too. We all know it is not always easy, and we all appreciate you for that as well. God Bless you real good. Long live E Finney Clay!

I have to add that I was watching this in a truck stop with a basketball game going on the TV. It was kind of fun to watch with a huge crowd cheering in the back ground ha ha. Like watching a race at a track or something. Spectator sport: the Clay hounds in Florida

I'll be 100% perfectly honest here. I dont have time right now at all but if that invite stays open then I will get down there sometime. And..........I know that we'd be extremely happy adding a little Clay blood into our "lines".
