what does everyone think about the tree swith

i like them but they are illegal here

eh not very reliable...and they are not legal here either...but when the dog is runnin in steep terrain they go off..and if the dog is out of hearing it makes u thhink its treed..then u realize its not treed just in a steep area then u begin to just stop listening to the damn tree switch b.c half the time its full of shit...and if the dogs are in hearing u can tell if they are treed or not anyways..therefore im not a huge fan...with that said sometimes it comes in handy when the dog aint moving around according to the tracker and the switch is goin off usually the dog is treed...its just not a perfect system by any means but it can provide u with a little piece of mind sometimes.....

i used johnson D size collars for 25 years -- the tree switch is very reliable --

not 100% but very good

heavy battery helps keep collar in place -- i try to run same collars on same dogs

- get used to what collar does with each dogs style at the tree


for instance one dog would sit down and look at bear--- fast steady beep for a long time --most dogs --this means dog is laying down or tied up somewhere --


other dogs jumping up tree and there is sort of a rythm to that -- fast then slow -over n over -

would not cut a hound loose without one. Find them to be very reliable as long as you are aware and familiar with the country your running.

I'm with Pete and Spanky.Would'nt have a collar without a tree switch.

I'm with Pete, Spanky and Trueblue... You do have to know your terrain, your collars and your dogs... If you do you would wonder why on earth you hunt without one...

I sure like them. You sure can't rely on them 100% though. Gotta know how to use them.

I've found that the Johnson D collars have the most reliable switch for my liking. They don't trigger as easily as some of the other collars I have had. I put them on the dogs just tight enough so I know they wont come off. I've had real good luck with them that way.
