So me and my buddy went out coon hunting tonight. we went to a new spot. and we came around a corner. and all my dogs blew up super hard. you guysh know what kinda strike im talking bout. the kind where its like the critter was in the box with the dogs.
so anyway. i turned my old dog down. and he would not leave the road. just sat there and barked towerd the woods. so i turned my old female down who likes to get gone a little. more. and witha little coaxing she worked her way out there, and finaly my other dog did.
then i saw a old gravel rd bellow me that they were on. soon as they got out there they were silint. i follwed them down and seen a realy old small house. that looked kinda like some one lived there but was abanded. i got down there and the dogs went straig back to the truck. and continud to bark from the road with my other dogs like crazy. so me and my buddy drove down the road. and it ended real quick. we had a earie feeling going down there. then when my buddy got out to close the gate. i had a real strong chill run down my spine. and as soon as i had that chill. my buddy came flying in the truck and said to haul ass cuz he had the exact sane chill go down his spine. wondering if you guys could help figure it out. dont kniw if it was a animal or somethin elese.

No idea, but it was something that your dogs had never smelled before.

i think dogs hear offgame crash off into the bush sometimes and that will get them to blow up . your old dog told you everything you need to know.one dog can send the rest into an uproar it is pack mentality.

It sounds like they were barking at someone??? Here is a tip an old hunter gave me when I first started hunting. { If you hiss them enough you might get them to take it. } I never hiss a dog now, if they won't take it I will not talk them into taking it. Dewey

Fully agree with Dewey. If they know what good game is, why would you encourage them to go after something they don't want to.
Maybe it was a bigfoot, probably was a bear or a wolf or a person. It was something they didn't recognized, but were afraid of and it was hot. I'm guessing the strike wasn't as normal as a hot, good game strike, but more of a watchdog strike, like when a strager drives up the driveway. Were the hairs up on their backs?

My father inlaw and brother inlaw had this kind of thing happen a couple of year ago, going down the road at day light it was only about 10 they were about to get the dogs out when they blew up in the box they got out to look for tracks but couldn't find any so they cut the dogs loose and they started up the draw half heartedly openning a little, once they got about 80 yards up there they started to booger barking and bay something they knew it didn't sound write when they got up to the dogs they had bayed up a bum living out in the open high desert though the winter they guy was filthy dirty and stunk so bad they couldn't stand to even be by him for more than a couple of minutes.
