Montana SB 260

I want to say I am a houndsman in Montana's Region 1 and we have SB 260 that was introduced on 2-19-2013. This a outfitter sponsored bill, that most of us here Region 1 didn't even know about. The current system will set non-residents capped at 10% in any given HD (hunting didstrict). The outfitters want the percentage raised up to 35%, that wouldn't be fair to resident tax payers, who may very well not ever draw a lion permit. I really don't mind some non-resident coming and having a good time, but if anyone remembers the race days here in region 1, it was a zoo. What this comes too is greed, the outfitters want more money. Please call and write your Montana legislators.
Thanks; Terry L. Zink

Be cautious of throwing stones at each other.

no Throwing stones, fact is the outfitters are caring more about making their money off our the montana residents wild game. people need to listen to the testamony given on the 19th. We need to take care of the resident hunters and why we as houndsmen live here. 10% IS A PLENTY, up to 35% is being greedy. The bill also leaves us wide open for the big game animals to be added in at up to 35 % also.

Thanks for the info Terry. Im going to write in against this bill. Outfitters are difficult to deal with in cat hunting, more so than during elk and deer season, 35% would be a bad deal for the montana guys who arent doing it as a business.

Hey guys I should of said up to 35%, but if you give a commission that chance, I don't think we would want that.
