How often do u oregon guys that like to hunt at night come in on a tree that you know for sure there is a cat in...and just can not find any eyes shineing?and I'm talkin bout a thick doug. Or white fir. And dogs are just hammering that one tree.aa
and the cat tracks in the snow lead right to it. Just wondering if this happens more than a couple times a season some of you.

Too bright of light sounds like to me.

happens to me quite a bit. matter of fact it happened last night. if i look the tree over as bast i can i will wack the tree with a stick hoping the cat will move and lok again . like thomas said a bright light will hurt u more than help u find cats. i have seen them sit there with there eyes closed many times.

When I lived there it definitely happened a couple times a year. In the coast range it happens more due to less places that one can actually shine because of thick, tall reprod or brush. It is very frustrating for sure. One thing to do if you can, is climb the hill the tree is on and shine it from different angles. This will put you at the same level as the cat and it is harder for it to hide. I've heard red lenses help.
