I was by myself coyote hunting. Jumped a coyote had two of my female walkers on it. Went through five sections the coyote got into a section that another group was hunting. Then all the dogs ended up together. I stopped an told one guy what happen he blew up an said i cut into his race. This almost led to a fist fight on the side of the road. I told him i just wanted to catch my dogs an i would be gone. I have permisson to hunt the section they were in to. So one guy in there group caught my young dog for me i had to drive to the other side of the section to pick her up. In the mean time they tubed the coyote an went back to shoot it. By the time i got my one dog an got back over there they were gone an so was my dog. I had a question mark on my garmin at there tube. walked back found tube an no dog. Found my dog two hours later three mile away. With the garmin turned off an the guys house she was at said she came to house an hour an half ago. How does a ten year old dog who ran most of the day get four miles in a half hour with out a free ride. Atleast i got her back but its not right to mess with some buddies dog. If i knew they were running in that section i would have caught the dogs before they got there. What should I do?????

I thought about that. As houndmen we have to all get along. It was just a coyote. There is lots of them around here. Just messed up to mess with a guys dog.

if they run garmin astro i would take my vhf radio and get close hold the mic down to burn their garmin up as they track their hounds see how they like not getting a signal. coyote is one hunt that hunting together is a fun hunt . they should have gone with the flow and not been asses.coyote is one animal that you can hunt the heak out of and not worry about conservation.

Call the Fish and game or your local law enforcment have them take a report and notify these guys if they can just so there a record of what happened, I'd also contact the guy you got permission from and let him know about these jerks.

Sounds like someone needs to be taught a lesson, that's just to far. If someone skrewed with my dogs I would go nuts.

I don't think I would mess with their collars as someone suggested. To me that's taking it out on the dogs and you are putting yourself at the same level as the other guys. I would talk to landowner or whoever maybe of help, or confront the people again and let it be know you won't put up with it again. If you know them by name I would tell all the houndmen you know what they did. I've run into some Aholes like this and if they were laying in the middle of a road I wouldn't swerve to miss them! But if their dogs were I'd get them out of it. I just wouldn't do anything to harm their dogs. "poacher"

Is there a law in the state making it illegal to interfere with a hunt or dog? That could be a way to pursure this. Otherwise I would just make sure they knew that shit would not be tolerated and I'd tell them the same thing - I will never under any circumstances harm your dogs but if you dick with mine it will be you I come see about it this is a human issue not a dog one.

I would never sink to there level an mess with there dogs. Mess with my dogs its like messing with my family or maybe worst!!!!!

the law will do nothing because of the lack of evidence . they need more than that to go on . a fist fight is a losing battle even if you win . heak in the state of maine your liscence is gone for ten years if you fight while hunting . nothing against the other guys hounds ,but people like this need to get the message that it wont be tolerated .bullys always pick on the weak not someone that there will be consequences from. turn the other cheek if it suits your needs not theirs.they already crossed the line.sometimes you have to make respect because the law cant be there 24-7 to save your ass.the law really only wants to make a profit off are woes anyway.make sure it is not profit from you . good luck making it right.
