I just am posting up some photos of a Redbone of mine if just maybe some of you all will not sell your dog short. He is three coming four. I use him for hunting cougar mainly.

he is just a gentlemen. Tell him to get in the canoe he does. load him up with pack he keeps close..tell him to get in the back seat of the truck and stay he does and we have caught some real nice animals with him to boot. He is not the only hound I have packed or taken fishing and they starting early and with time were as good a companion as you could wish. I cannot prove nor care too whether it improves or hampers the hunting. I doubt some hounds have the temperament. I have had a few older dogs given to me over the years that I could not get a handle on.
But for the sake of old blue get him off the chain or out of the kennel if you cannot hunt.

Enjoyed the pictures and your story. I can tell you enjoy that dog. If he makes you happy that is all that matters. Thanks

Really enjoyed your post horshur. I try to make companions out of all my hounds. Sure makes it rough when you loose a trusted friend tho!!

Good luck to you Sir.

You know what you want Andy, and you know what you have.
Are you going to breed him to keep the traits alive?

He is easy on the eyes.

I do the same things with my hounds. I have 2 blueticks and 1 black and tan...they are all hunting dogs and house/companion dogs. Live and sleep in the house, I take them everywhere with me. They are great hunters also. I agree...take the dog off the chain and do make them part of the family for the sake of you and your hound!!
