What are the reason's you guys cut dogs from your pack, and do you think they could be fixed problems why and why not? And were they tossed in as young dogs or trained and started before you started hunting them with others?

Merlo you asked if young dogs are started before you hunt them with others. You are in the bobcat section are you meaning you start bobcat dogs on bobcats before you hunt them with others? If so how do you do that without snow? How many bobcats do you get them on before you put them with others? Dewey

Merlo, I don't start my pups on drags, I just get them hunting when the feel like they should go on their own. Mind you I have 10 months to run big game. The amount of treed game makes a difference.

I would not even worry about how others are doing it I would just keep doing I the way you stated in your one post as it seems its worked 100% that way. Andy

Lack of locate and staying treed is a major reason I have cut dogs from my pack that I can remember off the top of my head. It is something that I feel should be very natural in a dog I keep. The earlier they do it the better I feel about them.
