Dog scratching itself raw. It is treated regularly for fleas and ticksIt is also heartwormed regularly as well. It scratches itself on the underside of its stomach till the hair is almost gone andits skin becomes raw. Am putting ointment on but this has happened twice now. it happened to her last summer as well. WHat could be causing this? Could it be the heat or is it something else. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I would say an allery to something(pollen of some sort) To give her some relief try some Benydril(sp?) about a half teaspoon for an average sized dog.

I have a female bluetick with a similar problem. She is goin on 7 years old now and has had it all her life, I haven't figured it out yet. I am pretty sure it's an allergy but to what I can't figure out. I have tried all sorts of different bedding and food and creams and lotions. Nothing has worked yet. I just started using a product called Calm Coat, I bought it online. I'll let you know if it makes a difference, it seems like good stuff. And it is guarenteed to work or your money back! Please let me know if you figure anything out, I've been trying to solve this problem for several years.

Could be alot of things, food, grass. What is it sleeping on at night? Some dogs have cedar or straw allergies. Try MicroTek shampoo, its great stuff. Comes in a black bottle, well worth the price.

My female got a skin infection after she had her first litter. She lost all her hair and itched like a fool. Calm Coat was the only thing that helped her hair grow back in. Great stuff.
