An August 1st chase!

I pulled in a path as light was just cracking, with a lite sprinkle taking place...I waited until I could see good enough that if the dogs got in the Hwy the traffic would see them...finally 6:08 I could see.....on the left side of the path about 70 acres of breast high soybeans in rows with several ditches with water and tall weeds through them and on the right was waist high sorghum in rows....wow what a picture! I turned out Psycho, Mo, Pearl and Roxie....their noses hit the ground like a brick and back and forth from 1 side to the other...wagging their tail in a whip type action....all the way to the end of the path and went to the left into a thick head...Psycho started screaming out trying to tell the others that she had found the direction it went...soon all four were hitting the track then Psycho sounded as she was looking at it..... I cleared the bench and soon they were up and down the beans rows at a brisk pace... leap frogging the track back and forth up and down the rows for a good 20 minutes, sometimes running three different fox...then a grey fox crossed the path with bout 16 or so behind him and went into the sorghum field and the pace picked up dramatically from one end to the other... the dogs left in the beans had to come join in.. then after bout 15 minutes the fox decided it was time to hit the thick and get some water... they circled in there bout 5 or so minutes then made a bobble (oh know has he gone up??)...Psycho screamed out here he goes and bout 6 of them joined her and back to the sorghum.... then to the beans....Well now the rest hit off in the thick and I thought to be sure they aint hit it behind??....nah not....then they circled out into the sorghum and back to the thick.. they made them same circles for 20 minutes then they bayed up.... so I headed to them and they had caught a cat (24 lbs)and when I loaded the dogs I could hear Psycho and the others in the beans on the other side of the field, before I could recast they cut off and I went to them to find a hole on a thick head where a fox eluded me a couple days ago... the dogs were digging and baying so I left it to run another day and called the dogs to the truck... I was back home by 9:30 and had a load of fun..... Until next time... Good Day!!
