I have a male puppy that is about 6 months old. He is aggressive towards his sister about eating, toys. He acts like he is real possessive about everything. I am afraid that this will transfer over to the tree. When/if we ever tree a cat, I was wondering if there was a way to make him stop. With out taking his nuts cause he is a hard hunting dog already. Any suggestion will be great. I don't know if taking his nuts will affect how he hunts or not. Thanks for your help

first off castrating him at that age will not affect his hunting drive or ability. Does he only show the aggression towards his siblings or the other dogs? Ive raised several litters and had siblings aggressive towards each other and have not had any issues at the tree or with other dogs. Just in the yard and kennel they seem to want to establish the hierarchy of the pack. Not saying thats your case but that is my experience in it.

Get after him and a good kick in the butt sure won't hurt. The more he gets away with it the worse he will get. Pup or not it's not acceptable. Andy

Just towards his sister so far. As far as I know I have been gone for the last week and a half elk hunting. This is when it really seemed to come out in him. I don't know if it has been because I have been gone. And he thinks he is the alpha male. He didn't do it tonight like he has in the last two nights when I have been gone.

Andy the girlfriend has whipped his ass the last couple of nights that he has done this. He didn't do it to night. Not sure if it was because I was back or not from elk hunting. But I plan to have a come to jesus moment with him if I catch him. I don't like that in a dog and I wont tolerate it. Oh and by the way the female is a straight machine when it comes to hunting. The male took alil longer to figure out the trailing but he is putting it together pretty well. They are out of my uncles topper again pup and mike kemps female. Thought you would like to know.

Were anyone of his parents or grandparents ill at the tree? If so you may have a problem .Some pups will show aggression over food ,toys, sticks"etc" but it doesn't necessarily meen they will be mean at the tree .If you're concerned about it take a stick or a rolled up newspaper and whack him with it every time he growls at another dog and say NO ! You won't have to beat him to death..Keep in mind though that if he has dogs that are mean at the tree in his pedigree you could have a problem. Some people think they can be broke of this fault but i'm not one of them.

I forgot to mention that a friend had a dog that would snap at another dog on the tree so he had him castrated. It had no effect whatsoever on his behavior! The reason i don't think they can be broke of it is because it's usually a inherited trait .It's in their DNA .

No his mom and dad are great hunters. My uncle has never had a problem at the tree with either of them. The mom is a mike kemp dog and the dad is out of topper again. As far as I know neither of those blood lines are aggressive. We have got after him and he seems to be doing better about it. Thanks everyone about there input about this.
