I recently hunted with a dog that would bark almost wide open on a cold track and would bark off track. This dog was 3 and is a good fast dog but that how mouthy it was bothered me. Wondering how others correct the barking off track. And if a loose mouth on a cold track can be fixed with some correction.

First, are you sure the dog is barking off track? Dog could have the track just off the track where ever he is getting best scent. And while cold trailing is the dog behind other dogs or out front leading it. If he is behind you can knick him with the e-collar on the lowest setting, everytime he opens knick him till he shuts up and catches up. If he is up front I wouldnt worry about anything as long as he is holding the track and aint making loses.

Merlo good advise. One can take some bark out with the ecollar if used correct & that's the tricky part, USED CORRECT. Have never heard of anyone being able to put track mouth in with an ecollar. So for myself, would rather have a hound with too much mouth. Sure can/t claim to be an ecollar expert, but I suspect more harm is done than good, when ecollar is in the wrong hands. Al
