I had my dog out this morning, he caught And killed a full grown coon. Way too easy. Should I be concerned? He has had his shots.

Any description what the coon looked like? Crusty material around the eyes is a sign of distemper. There's quite a few things that coons carry, rabies of coarse, but distemper is the most common we see around here.

Coon was on the ground when I saw it, on it's feet, Heard the dog bark not 25 yards away, in a little creekbed, about the time I saw it, it was arched up, fighting posture, dog zigged, snatched him by the rearend off his feet, got a throat hold, two or three quick shakes it was dead. First coon for a one year old dog. I have never seen a coon not move faster or fight a whole lot harder than that. Did not try and ball up on dogs head, dog not bit or scratched. Did not see any boogers on the eyes, or notice anything else obviously wrong other than the behaviour. Coon was in pretty good coat. Adult coon. I guess what I'm asking is: anybody think I should get rabies and dhlpp boosters, or not give it too much thought? Maybe it had got hit by a car or something, what would you guys do?

If you can afford it get the dog its shots, Probably nothing to worry about but just for the hec of it I would if your concernd.
