These gas prices are changing our lives . Just wait till people get their heating bills, especially if it is a real cold winter. There will be riots in the streets..people are at their breaking points.

Makes sense don't it , we have oil under our own soil and we don't want to use it because of some enviromentalist crap. It is stupid, the tree huggers get away with way to much junk.

Let's tell OPEC (who determines the amount of oil being pumped and therefore determines gas prices) that from NOW ON American grain and corn prices will be exactly the same as a barrel of oil. They can pay the cost of starve...or eat their oil, until prices come down.

I completely agree with you WY. I believe going into Iraq was a good thing and it was something that needed to be done, but how can we go on to try to fix other economies when we are being so terribly exploited in our own country?

Last night on the news, they reported on a find in New Mexico that contains more oil than the middle east. Time to drill domesically and let the middle east starve out in the heat.

I am generally against development in open places, particularly when the ones that are going to make the money are the same rich a$$holes that screwed the alaskan fisherman out of their paychecks at Valdez and continue to rake in record profits while the average joe is suffering. It would be nice if we (US People and THEIR representives in congress) could tell the big oil companies to lighten up.
They'll be the ones that benefit most from domsetic drilling, unfortunately it's time to start exploring those options.

It really disturbs me to see that the very Washington Politicians that over 20 years ago stopped exploration in the Gulf and Alaska are the Bastards that are screaming the loudest about fuel prices. I want to know when it became part of the President's job description to set the price of a barrel of oil?
There is quiet a bit of "saber rattling" between Isreal and Iran and if one or the other throws just one punch, we are going to see the price of a barrel of oil go over $200.

The large possible oil find is actually not in New Mexico but the Gulf of Mexico in deep water about 175 miles out and it is 30,000 feet below the surface. Yes it holds potential to increase our domestic reserves by 50% but this is frontier stuff. I mean drilling that far out and that deep takes a huge sum of talent and technology to make it happen.That is not to mention all the hassle people want to throw at the industry trying to do anything offshore.
ANWR also has tremendous potential and the actual area to be drilled is so tiny in the scope of the total reserve that it is ridiculous to stop it, but I think gasoline will have to hit $6.00 before they even consider it.
Here in the San Juan Basin where I live we have one of the largest proven natural clean gas fields in the country. But more and more legistlation and resrictions are choking the development of these reserves. It is not just happening here it is happening all over the country. With lies, fear and false propoganda the green army is trying to choke independance and freedom from the USA. Beware the wolves in sheeps clothing, crying save the envoirment stop the drilling. Wind, solar and alternitive sources are the only way. Trust me I am in the business and our future lies in fossel fuels and coal and we better get off our butts and start doing our own thing and forget relying on OPEC's good will because they have none. Uranium is also a very viable means of energy but just start talking nuclear energy and the the nut cases go wild.

Some of the oil companies claim that the tree huggers on the Front Range of Colorado don't seem to want them expanding their drilling operations, so when they came to Utah and complained our Governor assured them their dollars and drilling programs are welcome here. Several of our oil and gas fields have had spacing order changes that have gone from 40 acre spacing to 20 and even 10 acres per well in some of the gas fields where tight sands warrant it. One operator plans to plug all the Wasatch gas wells in one field that is on 40 acre spacing and re-drill them into the Mesa Verde under a new 10 acre spacing rule and have four wells on the same location where one stood. The funny thing is the people in drilling came up with that plan not a bunch of tree huggers...............
