Thanks for the pics Mike. I told the wife the daughter's birthday has to be the weekend after the gathering. I can now put faces to names. Even seen a few around and didn't know who they were.

This was a fun event. Special thanks to the entire Padgett family for being such gracious host!
I too like putting a face to the names and would love to see Buddy change the requirements of the members...Some of the pictures posted above are incomplete because I didn't know the names of all who attended.
We are a large family and this event was only made possible because of BGH and its members as are many of the other gatherings going on around the country.
Take care!
Mike

Thanks for the photos! I sure was thinking about you all and wondering how everything was going. Would have liked to have been there too. I appreciate the photos, and little bits of stories. If any one feels like describing things in more detail, I am sure we would read with interest... like the story with Thomas and the blue dream maker. How old was the boy? I got to visit an 11 year old on that same Saturday night, he was proud to introduce me to his redbone puppy. What an amazing energy and joy that could not be re-produced in any other way. Some one tell the whole story, or describe an interesting conversation you had, or what ever. Did any one get to talk to Sonny Turner or any of the other foundation blocks of the western dogs? I would be interested in every word that came out of the mouths of men like that.
I still remember some words from last year from Jim Pharris (Fall River Walkers). I thought it was interesting and thought provoking. I am afraid to try and quote him because I will not get it right so dont blame him, but we were talking about a "running dog that trees". He said "why would you want to immediately admit a fault in that dog?" I had to think about it a while to get what he was saying, so I will let you do the same.
Did you hear any words that made you stop and think? Or hear any stories? Or observe any interesting dynamics? I am pretty sure Brad Padgett told a story or two! C'mon cough one up.
Or maybe you would rather just punish me for not coming

Yes David you missed it! We all had a good time talking hounds and hunts.
For me it started early, with J.C. bringing out a pair of Clay Hound pups that the Clays brought out for Jerry King (Beauties)!! Then Sonny and his long time hunting buddy Chuck stayed at my place and we talked and watched my Fell Hound videos for hours.
But the highlight for me is when Sonny Turner and Willis Sutton met again after coon hunting with Al Rennich 61yrs ago. Willis said I wasn't going to come, but now I'm glad I did. Thanks Tim O'Leary for picking him up! Sonny now 79 and Willis 96.
We missed you and your guitar .......Brad

Wow. I would love to hear Sonny Turner and Willis Sutton talk about Al Rennich. That would be too much.
Trying to think what to even compare that to? Maybe the Apostle Paul, and the Apostle Peter talking about Moses. Wow.
Tim O'Leary called me today! What a pleasure to talk with him.
Speaking of the guitar, I nearly lost the use of my hands, but they are getting better. Maybe next year I can figure out how to get there with a couple songs. I hope so.
Will not forget you showing me around those mountains Brad. We will meet again.

Darn you mark! I was hoping the shit would stay on the down low. Remarkable that pup only had two accidents the whole trip.

I wonder how long it will take Jerry to figure out you switched out his pups for a pair of Lab/poodle cross pups???

Al Rennick, remember dad talking a lot about his dogs. Most of our Rennick blood is gone now. But dad compares everything to his Rennick Finley crosses.

Oh and ol Sonny can tell a hell of a story. Ol so and so can really drift a track. I also might add Marks boy Ty was telling some good ones once ya got him started.
The whole kid deal went like this David. Jimmy Poppin had a blue dog he gave-sold the kid. He acted somewhat interested in the pup and Jimmy, Tim, Shawn all got on board with it. At first i thought they were just kidding around because the boy was being shy about it. When my buddy and I got back from the store I asked the boy if he wanted it. Then I told Jimmy he could have it for whatever he had which was 100$ if his parents would let him have it. Jimmy called his folks and got the OK. The pup was to be donated to OUSDA which that money, was took to a director on Monday. So Jimmy is the hero here.
