Question about distance travelled on Astro 220/320

Post by Beardawgs »

I use an Astro 220 with DC30 and DC40 collars. When I lose communication with a collar, how does the Astro caclulate the total distance travelled? On the screen it shows a straight line from where it was lost to where it was picked back up, does it use that distance? I lose communication frequently in the terrain I hunt and I know the dogs have gone farther than what the Astro says. I 'start a new hunt' when I turn loose. Thanks

I think it just shows the line of sight distance(straight line).Actual distance to a treed critter always seems to be double or triple that displayed by the Garmin.
