I can not remember what country the author was from. But when I read the original quote I was both shameful, yet proud that someone not even a citizen. Could look from the outside in, and recognize the cancer for what it is. Big things have to happen at state and local levels for the country to turn it self around. But it won't happen unless a certain part of voters get their head out of their azz. And others stop sitting with their thumbs up their azz and get out and vote. How anyone could not be ashamed that other countries judge us by the stooges that weasel their way into elected positions is beyond me.

Could you clarify that statement, so some of us country boys can understand what you are saying?
If you are talking about the Urban Population being mirrored by the Government ? I may agree, but it's more like they are being led or mirroring the Government.

The elected officials represent the views of the "Majority" of the voters because that is who elected them. The final decisions made in a representative type of government are not inline with all voters.
