Anybody notice a change in their Black Gold dogfood. The 26/18 I used to get was a small round kibble of food. The new bags I just got are a flatter kibble with a reddish color. One dog will not eat it. Just me?

Ya know I have never had any luck with the Black Gold, plus it just cost's me to much to get it trucked in. But I was just tellin my wife that I can change the brand of food as long as the quality stays the same, and my dogs dont seem to mind, I went from Pruena HiPro to Nutro Max HiPro, and then to Enova Evo with out any problems, and my vet told me that it is actuly good for the dogs to change up there diet so that the insides can react in differant ways, if that makes any sence, the way I wrote it out. But the Black Gold I have had in the past has never really sat well with my dogs, except my heelers, they loved it and did really well on it.

Okie,
I have noticed it in other brands of food, I think it's just the way they mill it, or it's comein from a differant mill, hell I dont know.

i would be prepaired for every dog food to be made cheaper so they can sell it for a decent price. they are probably using more corn in the food than the meat and bone meal like they say they are. that is where the lighter color comes from.

I have fed Black Gold for years and my dogs love it. It is has not changed shape or color. Sounds a little fishy to me. Black Gold is one brand that I do not paying a little more for because it takes less feed to keep a dog in shape. By the way, I am not a dealer and don't own stock in the company.

I was speaking with a Black Gold dist here in Phoenix and he said that one of Black Gold's contracted factories had tried to use a different ratio in their food for a little while, once BG found out they stopped using that factory. You may want to contact BG and see if your bags were manufactured there. Who knows maybe it was just one of those flukes.

I was wondering the same thing. My dad was being nice the other day and bought me a bag, I figured he just bought a different brand but after reading this I asked him and he said it was BG. either way my dogs aren't real picky and eat it up just the same, nothin bad has happened so far, hope it stays that way.

I noticed this also, so I called and spoke with John Evans and he told me they have made a change. They switched to a different die(Form, not coloring  ) and to a different type of meal. This is to allow the dogs digestive system to process the food faster and more completely. He said you may want to cut back a 1/2 cup per dog as some are putting on weight with the new formula. No cheaper ingredients or anything just something to make the food better. Take care.

I can't say I noticed the kibble but I cut my dogs back by about 1/4 can because they started looking a little heavy.

Never used BG.. I find that the BEST QUALITY food for the buck is Diamond Naturauls.. No Corn No By-products. I feed the lamb and rice meal. It has real lamb meat not meal, barley, whole grain rice, beets, REAL eggs. I pay 22 bucks for a 40# bag. A greater discount is given when buying a full palet.

I just talked to alan at black gold and was told no changes were made in the formulation just the nugget size they said they needed to make the change because the nuggets were breaking up to many fines or crumbs were found in the bottom of the bag this should help this and make it more digestable

I use the nutra nuggets lamb and rice. 1 dog like and recently change the new pup to it, but its taking some time for him to get used to it. I pay $20 40lb bag from $13 a 20lb. He still gets the shits every now and then.hmmm
