Hey Everyone,
I was just wondering what firearm you guys prefer for bobcats. I have been using a pistol however today I sure could have used a rifle for the situation I had. So, on the way home, it got me thinking and wondering what you all use. I was thinking of a .22 magnum but I want something light and short. Any thoughts or help? A guy can always find an excuse to buy another gun.
Anyway, thanks Jon

Marlin 22 tube fed. Don't have to worry about losing a clip and there cheap enough you can beat the piss out of them and not cry about it.

I will not shoot many cats with it, but I just bought a .22 level action Henry, short , compact & appears to be strong made. Better yet they are made in the USA & HAVE A SHORT QUICK ACTION. Have had trouble with cats hanging up when shot in the head with a .22 mag.Al

I don't personally have one, but my brother in law uses a "cricket". It's a kids 22 rifle, single shot bolt action. It's about 2 foot long so it fits in or next to your pack but offers a ton more accuracy than a pistol. When he decides to shoot one, it works well.

Any of the youth models. Short lightweight and accurate. The Criket Scott mentioned is probably the best.

I am using one of the new Ruger Single Nine pistols. It is similar to the Single Six but holds 9 .22 Magnum rounds, adjustable sights and stainless. It has a great trigger and shoots like a rifle. It is a little louder than what you might expect but definitely packs a punch with the 45 grain FTX Critical Defense ammo from Hornady.
I have gotten too old and lazy to pack a rifle and find that I can negotiate through thick brush much easier with a handgun.
Adios,
Gary
