Question for all you guys who hunt in CO with dogs, I got a buddy of mine that wants to come in from the east coast and run his dogs with me. First, is it legal for him to even do that? He said he tried Montana and you needed to run your dogs through a guide to do that. If so, what will be need to make the process legitimate? Please need help here. Really want this guy to get on some big cats.

All he needs is a nonresident lion tag. ($350) To get that, he'll need a CID number (free) (online) then have him take the online test and get that printed out (must carry it with you) then buy the tag online before he heads out. Make sure he signs his tag before he's in the field and he's legal to go. Check the 800# to make sure the unit isn't closed after 5pm. Some units are now closed.

Awesome! Thank you very much full cry hounds. This was a huge help. Now if you're running lions but not hunting them, still need the the $350 tag? Can you run lion out of season?

He has to have a tag if he has hounds on the ground. We do not have a training season. If the season isn't open, you cannot run them.
