is this a cougar track?

Has some characteristics of lion track . can't say for sure picture make it look kinda 3d .

I doubt it is a cougar track...but the best way to be sure is to walk the track. So many variables in a micro shot can fool anyone but a few metres walk and the truth will be revealed.

I'm pretty sure it is cougar. Here's why. Of course it isn't clear so can't be positive. It appears to be the right side. The toes are lined up with the left back and the 2nd,3rd and 4th in a line going to the right and back. A dog has the middle 2 lined together and the back 2 lined together. That makes the raised snow look like a star *. A cat raises like a C as this track does. No claw marks. Also the heel pad makes the majority of the track. That is a good sign of cat.

I know the picture aint the best but the tracks constantly looked like what you see here.thanks for the replies and im hoping its a lion.

Just a stab in the dark and it's kinda hard to tell but it looks as though it's two lion tracks. Well same lion but his front and back foot, one on top of the other. I don't see a lot of lion but I do see a lot of bobcat track and around here they walk inside there own tracks a lot. Especially in snow. Plus it looks pretty catty.

Are there lynx in Ontario?

If anyone on here claims to be a lion Hunter and can't tell that's a lion your lost my friends that's a lion guaranteed

The cat is walking slow. Called an understep walk. If hind foot is forward it's an overstep walk. Means walking faster. A direct register track is normal pace hind directly in the front track. They also do a direct register trot. Just longer stride with hind right in front.

Don't be fooled boys, I know a few veteran houndman in their 40's that have mistakenly turned lose on what they swore was a lion.. Turned out to be wolf. And to all u boys who run with bells, these days its like a dinner bell for a pack of wolves. So make damn sure u get your ass to the tree/bayshow immediately.
