oneguy828: It is amazing how one can read something into what is posted. The alpha tracking system is the best. The only thing I have against it is the time it takes to go to toning. The old tritronics systems were right there for correction. Like any tool it is up to the one that is running it. It is still breeding, training and willing to cull to be successful with the hounds and know when to do what. Dewey

I thought of an example of Dewey's eyes that blew my mind back then. We walked out from his place into the foothills. The dogs started a track so we got to them. He said there's the cat. So I am looking for a cat. And he points to the ground which was covered with dead leaves. Covered except for a spot of soft ground about the size of my fingernail. And there in that earth was part of one toe print from the only part of that bobcat foot that missed the leaves.

The rest of the hunt, I was not watching the dogs, but watching Dewey.

I hope you can spend some time with him. That is how you will know if he is respectful of others or not. I know he has always gone way far out of his way in hopes of making my life a little better for me. I have seen him do the same for others as well. That is how I measure respect for others.

And yes, I do miss Ike, and valued his knowledge. It is a loss to us and this board that he is not here. I think it is sad that we must practice a false humility in order to be acceptable. It is testimony to the smoke and mirrors required for popularity. As John Kennedy was told by his father, reality doesn't matter, only perception.

Spotting a cat track in a small piece of soil is one thing, that usually comes from experience hunting with hounds & trapping predators. I used to be amazed when my mentor could spot a small critter track from the vehicle in a traveled gravel going 30 mile an hour or so. Believe it or not, he help me learn to do that when my eyes were better, still can sometimes. However knowing a hound is trashing on their first bark is a whole different skill, one that I have never known anyone to predict & be positive.. I have hunted with a few in my younger days who made those type statements after hunting with them saw too many turn out to be incorrect. If a hunter is above all hunters in knowledge they do not usually have to tell others how great they are, folks already know it. Never hunted with Dewey, have had other knowledge hunters tell me when they hunted their dogs with Dewey & his dogs, he read what dogs were doing different from what they believed at times. Telling them how superior his dogs tracked, compared to their dogs. Dewey don/t doubt you are knowledgeable, just hard to believe you are as good as you think. Hopefully, you are. Good hunting Al

Here is a tip there is no one that knows everything regardless of what some think. There are always two ways to skin a cat! Andy
