Oregon bobcats

Post by funstuff »

Hello everyone,
IT seems that Oregon has a nice cat population. I would like to get my dogs on more cats and have no problem traveling out of state to achieve this. I know itll run me about 310 for the license, which is fine as long as there is a populous to justify it.

I know this is a stretch, but I am looking for a general area that I can head to to shorten my search time while there. I can stay 2 weeks at time if necessary.

I don't want someone's honey hole or top secret place. I'm looking for a general direction to start my search. Preferably not " the east side is a good start".

I have been looking at the east side of the state because it's closer, and less populated.

If anyone can help me get a a little direction, it will be appreciated. Pm me, that's fine. I can understand why you don't want to give the universe the info.

Thanks
Mack

Ps, I don't kiss and tell.

You like to kill coyotes, and eastern Oregon is the place for that. But the cat population east is sparse by comparison.

Populations in the coast range are traditionally the most dense. Much of the coast is locked up now, but you will find some open areas. And they all have cats.

The Cascade range is next in cat density. The problem with it can be heavy snow will shut you down up high. If you can get up there, anywhere, there are cats. You will find a lot more of them if you don't have snow and your dogs run coyotes like mine.

You would have a hard time finding some place with no cats. But finding cats will not be hard.

Don't tell them catdog360. But you would buy it if it was $720.

I won't even try to tell you what it cost me. I am still in denial. Seems like the speeding ticket was over $300. But I can't remember.

Don't want to.

I guarantee the wear and tear on my pickup was over $1,000.

More like $1,000 per day. Lol

Hard to believe it got me in those places. And even harder to believe it got me out.

Glad we covered a very small potion of the cost of owning hounds.

Any of you willing to talk about areas at all, or just brag about how much money you throw away.

To those that I have spoken with, THANK YOU.

Anywhere you get in the guts of the coast range the full length of the state you will find cats. The closer you get to rocks the more you will find. Good luck and keep us posted.

Also large portions of it are private timber companies and you must buy a permit to be in there and they range from $250-$375 ( not bragging about spending money ) its a fact!!!!!!!!!!!! And if you really want to spend money, get caught in there without a permit lol

Mark, do they sell unlimited permits for a parcel of land or is it a limited number per parcel?

They are limited and vary in number acording to the size of the area. They arent exclusive to hound hunters, anyone can get one.
