I think it is Spanky....That conservation officer George Fischer is wrong in that article...The best way to keep them killing your dogs is to shoot every wolf you see  ...Of course this is just my unbiased opinion....Coop

The amount of money it take to maintain these dogs is not replaceble. But if the wolves kills cattle or sheep thenits ok to kill them. Totally wrong.

plan A

best way to avoid wolf attacks on hounds is to stay as close to the dogs as possible.

plan B

The best way to keep them killing your dogs is to shoot every wolf you see

well if you could implement plan B then plan A would have some value-

plan A does no good if wolves have no reason to fear people -

If you shoot one don't leave any evidence. There was a show on as to what extent they will go to investigate the shooting. They sent a forensic teem out to investigate the crime scene as they called it. They searched the area for any tracks tried to recover the bullet etc. I'm sure it doesn't happen a lot but if anti hunters have any influence in the area or there happens to be one in an investigative team on the case. They could cause somebody some grief. They spent more on the wolf investigation then they do on some murder's.

I have a friend who killed an elk. Came back the nekt morning to pack the rest out. One trail in and out of the canyon he killed it in. When he got there the wolves were eating on it. They payed no attention to him till he fired a couple shots at the ground. When he got to the truck with the rest of the meet the fish cops were there waiting for him. He saw no tracks over his on the single trail. When they told them they watched what happened and appreciated his actions he called BS. They showed him the video of him from a satelite and he was stunned. They were tracking the wolves that had collars on and watching them on video when it all went down.

I think the real cure is to shoot the S.O.B's that brought these damn things back. Then when your finished with them and all their followers start on the wolves. Theirs a reason the old timers wiped them out in the first place. They were out there with them and not behind some desk in the city. They knew what these animals did and how bad they were. They had it right and now some ahole's behind some desk in the city think they are going to fix everything. They piss me off. Sorry if I'm rambleing on they just rub me the wrong way.

I am with Shorty on this one. Idiots behind desks and starry eyed dreamers who believe they can re create Eden and the balance of nature will prevail and bring universal bliss and the lion will lay down with the lamb and all thah happy horse $hit. That is another place that we all hope to get to but it is not here and not now on planet earth! Get a grip regardless of how much money Ted Turner has are how much you empower these nappy headed burkenstock wearnng biologists sensible wildlife mgt. is left up to the tax paying, gun toting, bible pounding hunters.

As for those sattelite photos. Yep Google Earth has another demension that the private sector never sees. They can spy on you and even read your license plate from miles off in space. Sort of makes you warm all over doesn't it?

Lightly constructed bullets traveling at high velocity usually explode and don't leave large pieces. Also I wouldn't shoot at any thing that had an antenna.

Old finnish way is to shoot the wolf on stomack. So it will run several miles/kilometers before it drops dead. In east and north guys are specialists to (beep) the cops and gamekeepers. Its allmost like art when they deside to get rid of some unwanted wolves. That is also true that some cops are more enthusiast to investigate wolf kill than some rape what mohammads did a while back on our town.

Sick world isn't it.

The bad thing is its not the first time that the Schillings have lost dogs to wolves. A couple of years ago Steve lost 2 or 3 to wolves and I believe his brother Mike had lost a few as well.

Some of you sound quite selfish. A true hunter respects all aspects of nature, not just the ones that benefit his personal agenda. Hunting with dogs brings risks, and it is that rush that we enjoy so much. Thats why we don't sit at home and watch TV with our legs up all the time. Sometimes the dogs don't win, its only fair, and its part of the sport. Balance is key. Nature has it's own way of doing things, you may disagree but the friction and pain is in the resistance. Grow up, you can't always have it your way. I do have dogs, so the argument that I don't understand would be invalid.
