And training tips to help a dog stay treed? Have a young dog she's treed 2 cats stays a few minutes then back tracks to me and leads me to the tree.

How young? Fur in a young dogs mouth never hurts. Andy

Many people would argue with you Andy, not me. The predatory instinct is track down and kill their prey. Good hounds have a very high predatory instinct and the best of them, hunt in serpentine patterns, track, try to kill their prey and if they do not catch them, stay at the tree for as long as it takes. It’s a huge relief and very rewarding, for them to get the bite.

It sure doesn't hurt a young dog to grab fur or an old dog for that matter. Andy

3 years old start of her second season. I was thinking she might change after having one shot out and wait at the tree for me to do it. Few weeks ago she jumped a cat on it for 4+ hours I saw parts of the race saw it tree any my dog fly past she eventually circled and found the tree

You could tie her up once cat is spotted praise her up real good. Roll the cat out drag the cat to her let her play with it then tie the cat up in the tree and have another rope tied to the cats leg that you hold onto and jerk the cat around flipping and flopping if the dog gets excited let her loose and let her have fun make it a game. The first few trees tie her back once you spot it and play around the tree get the dog excited. All this should be fun. After a few trees of that see how she does not being tied up and just encourage the dog. It should be fun. A lot of guys are going to have negative things to say about a 3 year old not doing it it's self don't worry about it your dog you feed it. Have fun make it a game and stay consistent
