Last True Sugar Creek - DEAD

The last true Sugar Creek female in the U.S. died peacefully in her sleep wednesday night. She was a great hound. She was a tremendous reproducer and a great hunter. She had a nose that was second to none. I once watched her cold trail a bobcat for a half mile on a frozen river bed and put an end to it with style. She had the best disposition a man could ask for. She was truely a gentle giant. She would play with any pup as if it was her own. a harder tree dog I have never seen. If the game was not shot out, she had to be pulled from the tree and at 115 pounds, that was a chore. Her pedigree read like the who's who of the Sugar Creek line. There was old King,Rattler,Terrible Tom,Thunder Chief and old Ann to name a few. This hound will be sorely missed and it brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. I would like to thank Del Cameron for the role he played in breeding this fine line of Blueticks. I would also like to thank Barry Lewis and David Price for the opportunity to own this fine hound. This is the end of an era. May she rest in peace ...

I do not what to say, This saddens me greatly and I truly know how you feel. I do know that does not lessen your pain but do not give up.

Sorry to hear that. Anytime we lose one of the old cold trailing strains we lose another part of history.
I hope the line is well documented so at least breeders in the future can use the lessons learned.

Amigo,

Sorry to hear this I just got in from camp over on the Moreno Grant and didn't have any communications.

Damn the bad luck, you know how I feel about them.

Well she may be gone but not forgottem and maybe some of her ancient forfathers and mothers get will continue the legacy of the big spotted and ticked hounds whose thunderous voices will still quicken the pulse of the men that hunt the Rockies.

Tracks! SSSSsst! Old Girl this way, look for em!

Thanks guys. On a good note, I have a 16 m.o. son of hers'. I will have to work extra hard on finding a female to breed him to. He looks just like her, so when I look at him, I think of her.
