Michigan bearbaiters have been lobbying the Natural Resources Commission to take away 10 days of the training season...which would affect training dogs on bear, coyote & fox, coon, rabbits and birds.

They want a "quiet time" prior to the bear season opener. Looks like they have support in the Natural Resources Commission as it is being considered in the new bear management plan.

This amounts to bearbaiters transforming themselves into an anti-hunting group seeking to take away time afield from other sportsmen...and there is no justification aside from basic greed.

Wisconsin does not have this kind of conflict...must be something in the water here in Michigan...or maybe it is inept management generating conflict.

Hunters should not sale each other out over a few rules that help them. One day some deer hunter (for example) will try to cut the bait sites, practices, or hunts and then they will no how the houndsmen feel.
