My Bluetick is a bit over a year now and he doesnt look as filled out muscularly and in general as im used to a dog being, but my only reference dogs arent hounds, so, i dont know.
He gets 4 cups of Purina Pro One every night, and then when i work him, he gets extra treats.
What should I be doing to bring his weight up?

He'll only get as big as his genetics let him.
Lots of dogs fill out as late as a year and a half.

Moonshiner ~ Is he on a regular worming routine?
Is that Purina Pro Plan or Purina One? Which blends do you feed, Chicken, Beef, or Lamb.
Last year during the winter I went to the Pruina Pro Plan Performance Blend. It's a 30-20 blend. It definately kept the weight up through the cold months.
It does cost a little extra though.
Good Luck.

Dogs are meat eaters, not corn or rice. You need to feed them some meat mixed in with their dry food. At least twice a week when not hunting them and every day or every other day when you are running them every day. Also feeding twice a day is a lot better for them then once a day.

I have feeding the two a 23-15 performance blend from a local feed store, since I kinda have been living in the boondocks and the store ran outta of the Purine Pro Plan Adult Large Breed, The slightly bluish packaging.
What portians should i be feeding the dogs twice a day with?
What meat should I supplement the food with? Ive been feeding them the occasional rabbit and squirrel i shoot, and yes i cook them, have thought about feeding them the crab i catch too, since I a ton of crab.

The best meat you can feed your dogs is horse or beaver. If you can't get a hold of those, then any road kill deer or elk will do just fine. The portions are different for every dog. Just watch them every day to see if they are putting on wieght or loosing wieght then adjust accordingly.

DON'T COOK MEAT!!! dogs get more nutrients from raw meat, and bones become brittle and can cause injury

Yea, well dogs can also pick up nasty bacteria and parasites from uncooked meat, especially road kill even if fresh, im sorry but the miniscule amount of nutrients lost isnt worth a large vet bill or another round of wormer.

I have a male dog that also stays skinny. He was horribly obese at one time but when I got his weight off the first time it just won't go back. Even when I don't hunt him for a while and feed him almost twice what I do my other dogs. I can tell a difference when I feed him coons or other meat so I would try that option more Moonshiner. And I usually cook the coons just to be safe also.

ok, seeing as how my dogs dont hunt coons well, if at all, where would I find these little fat inducing critters? Where bouts to they hide?

Moonshiner, they're dogs, not people. When someone say roadkill (as redneck as that sounds) they mean something fairly fresh, and cut off a nice chunk of red meat. They are dogs, it isn't going to hurt them. These same dogs will eat shit from other animals, and given the chance will roll in and eat on old nasty critters that have been dead a long time. When you loose one of these dogs while out hunting for a week or so, watch em when they get home, they'll shit hair for a week from some dead old carcass they've been surviving on. I don't know how healthy it is for a dog, but a friend of mine will pour some vegatable oil in with his feed and they get fat right now.

there is a lot of ways to help a dog keep up on energy and weight we feed rex meat proten dog food and the dogs we hunt real hard we feed equate nutritional shake from walmart there about 1.00 each we feed half to each dog and it works great after a week you wont beleave the results we also worm with atgard swine wormer but if your dogs have heart worms it will kill them .
